Mt. Bierstadt and Mt. Evans proximity to Denver makes them very popular hikes. The fact that there is a road to the summit of Mt. Evans also means you will share the summit with many different folks, but there are several different routes that will provide you with all the adventure and solitude you need.
Having worked almost 100 hours this week, I really needed to get out and clear my head. My team at work made enough progress on Saturday that we didn't need to work on Sunday as previously scheduled. With an unexpected day off, Amy and I scrambled to pack our gear and head up to Mt. Evans Saturday night. We arrived at the Mt. Evans Road and paid our $10 dollars at the self-pay station, this thing even takes credit cards. We decided to park at Summit Lake, set up camp in back of the 4runner, and hit the sack around 10 p.m.
